Bold accents, a playful mural, a touch of Andy Warhol - The Pop Art is the apartment with the strongest design statement in the house, 46 sqm of colour, character and high comfort in Graz.
Step into The Pop Art and you smile briefly. A bold mural, a sofa with character and well-placed colour accents turn this living room into a statement. This isn't a hotel-smooth apartment - it's a room with attitude. Yet it isn't loud: we made sure the bold accents sit on a calm base of light walls. The living room faces the quiet courtyard, so traffic on Steyrergasse stays outside. The pull-out couch turns the living room into a second sleeping spot for two, which is how the apartment lands at 4 guests. The 50-inch smart TV is part of the deal, in case movies or football are on the menu.
The bedroom is intentionally calmer than the living room. Light wall colour, a real king-size bed, fresh high-quality linens from Denmark and its own 50-inch smart TV. That's by design: enjoy colour and accents during the day, but sleep well at night. The bedroom faces the street side towards Steyrergasse, but the newly renovated double-glazed windows insulate traffic noise well, and black-out curtains keep nights deep. Bedroom and living area are separate rooms accessible from the hallway, each with its own door - if you travel as a couple with two kids, parental privacy is genuinely covered here.
Even in the most playful apartment of the house, we took the kitchen seriously. The Pop Art comes with cooktop, oven, microwave, dishwasher, large fridge, Nespresso, kettle and toaster. Plates, cutlery, pans, pots and a cutting board for four people are stocked. The dining table seats a family of four or two couples. SPAR is about 100 m away, the nearest bakery (Martin Auer) is roughly a 6-minute walk - perfect for a playful breakfast with croissants, fresh juice and a second espresso before the first walk into town.
The bathroom is clean-cut and - in contrast to the colourful living room - intentionally calm. Walk-in shower, well-lit mirror, hairdryer and fresh in-house towels in multiple sizes. For toiletries you'll find RITUALS shampoo and shower gel in refillable reusable containers. Toilet paper is ready for you. With a direct booking, a final cleaning fee of 29 EUR per stay is added to the room rate - either way, you don't have to polish anything before you check out.
The balcony faces the quiet courtyard garden and gives the eye a rest after all that colour inside. You sit here in the morning with your espresso, no Steyrergasse traffic, just birds in the courtyard. In summer the garden is open to all guests - football goal, table-tennis table, go-karts for kids, sandbox and garden furniture. As a couple, the balcony becomes the favourite pre-bed spot; with kids, the little ones are two floors below you in the garden while you enjoy the break. A free welcome package with drinks and regional products is waiting for you on arrival.
The Pop Art is our most colourful apartment. It speaks to people who don't want to disappear into an interchangeable hotel and consciously look for an apartment with personality. Young couples love the atmosphere, design-minded solo travellers come for the visual language (Instagram says thanks), families with kids enjoy the mix of vivid living room and quiet bedroom. If you prefer something classic, look at The Black and White, The Natural Zone or The Flowers - The Pop Art is a deliberate statement.
You stay east of the Mur on Steyrergasse 86; trams 4 and 5 stop at the Steyrergasse stop about 100 m away, almost in front of the building. From Graz Central Station you're here in around 15 minutes on tram 4; the UNESCO old town with the Clock Tower and Hauptplatz is about a 15-minute walk, the Schlossberg 25-30 minutes on foot. University of Graz, Kunsthaus and the Mur promenade are all comfortably on foot. If you want to experience Graz creatively - galleries, the Mur island, the museum quarter - The Pop Art is a fitting base.
